His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the 23rd pontiff of Srimath, was born on August 29, 1916, and ascended the holy seat on February 24, 1928, when he was just twelve years old.
In 1970, Sri Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar conferred upon His Holiness the title of ‘Rajagurutilaka’ in recognition of his immense contributions to society. Posthumously, Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Mahaswamiji was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Mysore in 1989.
His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji established the Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Mahavidyapeetha (JSSMVP) in 1954, which was registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1960.
The current pontiff, the 24th Peethadhipathi of Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math at Sri Suttur Kshetra, and the President of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, took on his responsibilities in 1986.
His Holiness has earnestly worked to address the societal challenges in areas such as literacy, healthcare, employment generation, and social welfare, earning praise and recognition from all quarters. His visionary leadership and inspirational guidance have positioned JSS institutions to meet the expectations and needs of the 21st century.
